Tabby

A macOS app that lets Safari users export their tab groups.

Safari tab groups are a great way to save a set of tabs and come back to them later. But there’s no way to get them out. You can’t export them, back them up, or move them to another browser.

Tabby started as a small Ruby script that read Safari’s data and saved my tab groups to disk. The script found an audience on GitHub, so I turned it into a native Mac app that anyone can use.

Tabby exports tab groups from every Safari profile as HTML, CSV, JSON, or a Raindrop import file, and keeps tabs and groups in their original order. It reads Safari’s data in read-only mode, and nothing leaves your Mac.

It was made for Sebbie, my beloved tabby cat.
