868 Lorimer

A website for a new condo building on McCarren Park, with a hand-illustrated neighborhood map.

868 Lorimer is a building of fourteen condos facing McCarren Park, in the heart of Greenpoint-Williamsburg in Brooklyn. I designed and built its website for the developer, Chatham Development, and its sales team at CORE.

The site launched in two phases: first a simple page to collect early interest, then the full site, with the residences, amenities, specifications, and neighborhood.

The neighborhood map

The highlight is a custom neighborhood map. Instead of a standard street map, it uses a hand-drawn illustration of the neighborhood, turned into an interactive map with Leaflet.

Nearly 90 places are pinned right onto the artwork and color-coded by category: food and drink, health and wellness, shopping, and just for fun, plus subway stations and Citi Bike docks. Hover over one to see what it is and click through to learn more. The building itself pulses at the edge of the park.
